As Flagstaff's first and only kava bar, we have been introducing Northern Arizona to kava's traditional roots ever since. Kava, or Piper Methysticum, is a plant grown in the central Pacific Islands of Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, and Fiji, among others. There, the root of the kava plant is harvested, dried, ground, and processes into a beverage that has been used culturally for 100’s of years. Kava provides a sense of calm to its drinkers and many people seek it out for its ability to alleviate anxiety and stress. Drinkers of KAVA report sleeping better, feeling more relaxed, enhanced focus, and more willingness to socialize. KAVA is also an effective treatment for PTSD. Many veterans looking for a natural alternative to prescribed medications.
